I gotta say I agree with most of the reviews on this game, as how it is one of the toughest FPS out there. You have none of the advantages you typically see in an FPS... no mini-map with threat indicators, nothing to help you spot an enemy, guns that jam and become useless relatively quickly... enemies that are hard to hit while they are running... enemies that go get help... etc. Add to that the fact that the game is quite stunning, and it is fun to start brush fires, and you can run, swim, drive and fly like 1942... this turned out to be another one that I've played through more than once. I mean, I didn't even bother with the Golden AK-47's the first time through.

Not that I'm keen on the Malaria, but it was interesting how this debilitating illness was worked into the game as part of the story line AND an impediment. Let's face it... when you are in a firefight, and your screen goes wobbly and fuzzy, and you have to stop trying to stay alive in order to take a pill... and stay alive. And how funny is it to watch him push a bullet out of his arm with his finger when your character is badly wounded? The day/night sequencing is neat, although I think it should have been FAR darker at night.

The second half of the game wasn't supposed to be easier, but honestly with the assault truck that carried the grenade thrower it was FAR easier. I mean, once you got the hang of that baby (and didn't blow up your own truck) you simply roll up within range of anything, and pound the crap out of it, then roll past the debris... never spending any of your own ammunition. If you didn't mind being patient, you could clear out ANYTHING with that. Oh, is there baddies across the lake in shacks? Ka-CHUNK Ka-CHUNK Ka-CHUNK Ka-CHUNK... and watch the fireworks as the ammunition crates are going up in explosions of bullets everywhere.

A man, his guns, his back-stabbing friends, quickly respawning baddies, and lots of foliage and scenery you can destroy... what more could you want?
